All times are on a 24 hour basis and are changed to Daylight Savings Times where applicable. This makes the charts particularly user friendly, as there is no need to add one hour to any times during the Daylight Savings Period. The tide for Sydney is presented as a continuous curve, so the tidal height may be readily ascertained for any time of the day, and for any day in the year.

In addition, for every day of the year, the time of the tidal highs and lows are given (as for conventional tide tables), also the times for sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset and the moon phase (new moon, first quarter, full moon, last quarter) if it occurs on that day. The publication presents the tide in weekly charts starting Thursday , so that long holiday weekends are conveniently spanned in the one weekly chart.

Tidal time corrections in relation to Sydney are provided for 140 estuarine and river locations throughout NSW, from the Tweed River in the North to Eden in the South.

The charts provide an invaluable aid in the following recreational activities and industries:

  • Fishing
  • Boating
  • Sailing
  • Recreational Diving
  • Surfing
  • Sailboarding
  • Waterskiing
  • Diving and Salvage
  • Coastal Engineering

IMPORTANT: This information has been recovered directly from automatic recording equipment and may not be quality controlled by MHL. All times are recorded in Australian Eastern Standard Time (UTC+10:00). Water level datums are site dependent. Please contact MHL for further clarification.
